     Derek Frets is a Detroit-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose music lives at the intersection of rock, folk, blues, soul, and country. With powerful vocals, searing guitar solos, and a restless creative drive that spans guitar, piano, drums, and other stringed and percussion instruments, he creates songs that feel both deeply personal and boldly experimental. His live performances bring a full range of emotions to the stage, while his recordings capture his raw honesty and restless spirit.      Over the years, Derek has shared stages with some notable artists, opening for Everlast, Days of the New, and Brian VanderArk (of The Verve Pipe). His cover of Dylan's “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right” landed on YouTube’s homepage spotlight, and his original songs have also found life beyond the stage. “Glad I Don’t” has surpassed 10,000 views on YouTube, “Overtime” was licensed for a UK fashion commercial, “Common Thread” appeared in the Australian film The Lives We Lead, “Walking, Running” was featured in a major sneaker brand-sponsored race in Australia, and “The One” was included in a successful crowdfunding campaign.
